Manchester United is reportedly exploring the possibility of replacing current manager Erik ten Hag with former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel. This comes as Ten Hag’s position at the club hangs in the balance following their worst-ever start to a Premier League season.
The club’s leadership, including part-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, is set to hold a key meeting on Tuesday, where Ten Hag’s future is expected to be a central topic of discussion. According to reports from Manchester Evening News, United is eyeing Tuchel, 51, as a potential successor, only seven games into the current Premier League campaign.
While other managerial candidates are being considered, Tuchel is seen as the top choice due to his availability. The German coach, who previously led Chelsea to Champions League glory, could become the club's prime target should Ten Hag be dismissed.
Ten Hag has come under increasing scrutiny as Manchester United currently sits in 14th place after securing only two wins in seven league matches, alongside two draws and three losses. With just eight points, this marks the club’s worst start to a season since 1989-90, when they finished 13th under Sir Alex Ferguson.
The pressure is mounting as the club searches for solutions to improve its performance and standing in the league.
