The Federal Capital Territory Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service has apprehended ten individuals for staying in the country illegally. The arrests occurred during a nighttime operation and were announced by the Command's Public Relations Officer, DSI Anyanwu Ifeanyi Paul, on October 3, 2024.
Among those arrested were five nationals from Nepal and five from Sri Lanka, all found to be violating immigration laws. The operation was conducted under the leadership of Comptroller of Immigration Service FCT Command, CIS BAS PEPPLE, demonstrating the commitment of the Nigeria Immigration Service to uphold the integrity of the nation's borders and enforce immigration regulations.
The arrested individuals were unable to provide valid documentation for their stay in Nigeria, prompting immigration officials to take action. CIS Pepple stated, "This operation exemplifies our dedication to maintaining order and security within the FCT. We are resolute in our efforts to prevent irregular migration and address any breaches of our immigration laws."
The Nigeria Immigration Service FCT Command also urged individuals residing in the country to ensure their immigration status complies with regulations and to cooperate with authorities. The ten individuals are currently in custody and will be processed according to Nigerian immigration laws.
