Music mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs is preparing to file a third appeal for his release from prison, following his arrest on September 16 in Manhattan. According to court documents obtained by People on Monday, Combs' attorney, Alexandra Shapiro, has filed a notice of appeal after previous attempts to secure bail were denied twice.
Combs, who was taken into custody at a Manhattan hotel, faces serious allegations outlined in a 14-page document released the day after his arrest. He is accused of organizing multiple events referred to as "freak offs," which prosecutors describe as elaborate sexual performances. In addition, he is charged with drugging and sexually assaulting his victims.
On September 18, Combs was denied bail for the second time and is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. Magistrate Judge Robyn F. Tarnofsky cited concerns over Combs' reported substance abuse and anger issues, expressing doubts about his ability to refrain from harming others.
Despite pleading not guilty to all charges, Combs remains in custody. However, sources revealed to People that he has been removed from precautionary suicide watch while in jail. One insider also noted that Combs had received a visit from his family during his incarceration. "He is focused and very strong," his lawyer told People. "He is concentrating on his defense and preparing for his trial."
Combs' next court appearance is scheduled for October 9, where further developments in his case are expected.
