Senate President Godswill Akpabio admonished Senator Osita Ngwu for his remarks praising the beauty of Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu during a ministerial screening session in the Senate on Wednesday.
Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, who was among six other ministerial nominees undergoing screening, presented her credentials to the Senate before facing questions from lawmakers. She is being considered for the position of Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
As the session commenced and Akpabio opened the floor for inquiries, Ngwu, who represents the Enugu West District in the 10th National Assembly, began his comments by complimenting Bianca's appearance. "Mr. President, the beautiful nominee standing before us,” he stated.
In response, Akpabio playfully interrupted, saying, "Restrict yourself to the resume. Forget this word beautiful," emphasizing that such comments were inappropriate for the formal setting. He added, "She didn’t put in the CV that she is beautiful," which prompted laughter among the attending senators.
Following the light-hearted exchange, Ngwu shifted his focus back to Bianca's qualifications and expressed admiration for her profile and competence.
