Thirteen Shot, One Dead in Oklahoma Party Shooting

In the early hours of Saturday, a tragic shooting at a party in Oklahoma City left 13 people injured, including one fatality, according to local police. The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. following a disturbance at a private venue, where multiple gunshots were fired both inside and outside the building, Capt. Valerie Littlejohn of the Oklahoma City Police Department reported.

While details about the victims remain scarce, it was confirmed that at least two individuals were critically injured and are currently receiving treatment at a hospital. No suspects have been identified at this time, but several individuals were detained for questioning, and investigators are actively interviewing witnesses to gather more information.

This shooting adds to the growing list of mass shootings in the U.S. this year, with over 410 incidents recorded by the Gun Violence Archive. The organization defines a mass shooting as one where four or more people are injured or killed. The rising number of mass shootings has reignited calls for stricter gun control measures, but efforts to enact significant legislation in Congress have largely stalled.

The investigation into the Oklahoma City shooting remains ongoing.
