Trump Amplifies Anti-Immigrant Rhetoric in Colorado, Targets Venezuelan Migrants

Former President Donald Trump has intensified his anti-immigrant stance by unveiling a sweeping plan to deport Venezuelan migrants, claiming they have "infected" the city of Aurora, Colorado. At a campaign rally on Friday, Trump announced his proposal, dubbed "Operation Aurora," aimed at deporting members of Venezuelan gangs whom he labeled "savage."

Standing before a crowd and surrounded by posters displaying mugshots of Venezuelan gang members, Trump vowed to invoke the Alien Enemies Act, a centuries-old law that permits the deportation of non-citizens from countries the U.S. is at odds with. He pledged to deploy federal law enforcement to identify, arrest, and deport all illegal immigrant gang members, promising swift action if re-elected.

Trump's comments followed local incidents that gained media attention, including a video of armed men reportedly linked to Venezuelan gangs in an Aurora apartment building. Despite the local authorities confirming that the crime rate in Aurora is declining and the event was isolated, Trump has used the situation to bolster his hardline immigration platform.

Aurora's Republican Mayor, Mike Coffman, refuted Trump's claims, stating that the former president's portrayal of the city as overrun by violent gangs is "grossly exaggerated." However, Trump continued to press the issue at the rally, using dramatic news clips and accusing Vice President Kamala Harris of failing to control immigration, calling her the "worst border czar" in U.S. history.

Although Colorado is not considered a key battleground state, Trump's rally appeared to exploit local fears and further his anti-immigration message. His inflammatory remarks about migrants, particularly from Venezuela, echo past controversial statements where he referred to undocumented immigrants as a threat to the country’s safety.
