Tyson Fury Reveals Wife's Miscarriage Ahead of Title Fight

Tyson Fury has opened up about a heartbreaking personal tragedy, revealing that his wife, Paris, suffered a miscarriage six months into her pregnancy. He learned the devastating news just before his world heavyweight title unification bout against Oleksandr Usyk in May. Fury emphasized that while the loss of their child was profound, it should not detract from Usyk's victory in the ring.

Fury shared that the miscarriage occurred the Friday before the fight, stating, “She lost [the baby] on the Friday of the fight, which was pretty shitty.” He expressed deep concern for his wife, who had to endure the ordeal alone while he was away preparing for the fight. “I could not be there for her, in that moment, and that is tough for me,” he said, reflecting on their long relationship and the emotional toll of the situation.

The boxer recalled that even before learning about the miscarriage, he sensed something was wrong when Paris was unable to join him for the fight. “When she said she couldn’t come over, I knew there was a problem,” he explained. Paris had high blood pressure and couldn’t travel, which heightened Fury’s anxiety. He told his brother, “She’s lost that baby,” expressing his instinctual understanding of the gravity of the situation.

Fury noted that Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority in Saudi Arabia, had offered to arrange for Paris to fly to Riyadh with a doctor to support her. However, when he learned she couldn’t fly, he recognized that it was a serious issue.

Fury reiterated that while the miscarriage was a painful experience, it should not be used as an excuse for his defeat to Usyk. “I am a man of honour. I do what I have to do when I am in [the ring]. Nothing outside the ring matters,” he said, emphasizing his focus during the fight.

The heavyweight champion, who shares seven children with Paris, confirmed they had lost a son. He acknowledged that they had experienced miscarriages before, stating, “It happens,” but he remains uncertain about their plans for more children, noting the emotional difficulty of moving forward. “It takes a lot of getting over,” he added, urging a shift away from the somber topic as he struggled to contain his emotions.

Fury's rematch with Usyk is set for December 21 in Riyadh, where both fighters will continue their pursuit of boxing glory.
