VIDEO: Asari Dokubo Accuses Nigerian Military of Involvement in Oil Bunkering

Former militant leader Asari Dokubo has made serious allegations against the Nigerian military, claiming they are the main perpetrators behind oil bunkering activities in the Niger Delta region.

In a recent press conference, Dokubo asserted that soldiers, rather than local ethnic groups like the Ijaws and Ogonis, are primarily responsible for the illegal operations. “Since they don’t want us to keep secrets, we won’t keep it,” he declared during a live session.

Dokubo further stated that President Bola Tinubu had encouraged him to discuss military involvement in oil theft when he first brought the issue to light. He accused the military of exploiting local communities by using them as intermediaries in these operations, while only offering them a small portion of the profits.

"It is not the Ijaws, Ogonis, or any other ethnic group behind the oil bunkering, but soldiers who use them and give them peanuts," Dokubo claimed.

These allegations add to the ongoing concerns regarding corruption and illegal oil activities in the Niger Delta, a region already grappling with numerous socio-economic challenges.
