Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, missile fragments or direct strikes reportedly hit areas near downtown Tel Aviv, resulting in massive explosions. Iran launched approximately 200 ballistic missiles towards Israel, with footage showing Israel's air defense system, the Iron Dome, intercepting many of the projectiles. However, it appears that some missiles or fragments bypassed the system, striking densely populated areas.
The incident has caused "World War 3" to trend on X (formerly Twitter), though Israeli medical services have so far only reported two injuries from the attack.
Iran's Revolutionary Guard confirmed it had launched "tens of missiles" at Israel and warned of further escalation if Israel retaliates. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) urged citizens to seek shelter, stating, "The explosions you are hearing are from interceptions or fallen projectiles."
In response to the missile barrage, flights in and out of Israel's Ben Gurion International Airport have been suspended, while neighboring Jordan temporarily closed its airspace.
Prior to the attack, Israel’s military confirmed the missile launch from Iran and issued a stern warning, urging the public to remain alert and follow Home Front Command's instructions. "The IDF is doing and will do everything necessary to protect the civilians of the State of Israel," the statement added.
As tensions escalate, the situation remains highly volatile with fears of a wider conflict looming.
