Wizkid Announces Release of Anticipated Album 'Morayo' on November 22

Nigerian Grammy-winning artist Ibrahim Balogun, better known as Wizkid, has officially announced the release date for his highly anticipated album, 'Morayo,' set to drop on November 22. The announcement was made via social media on Friday, where he expressed his excitement, writing, "Morayo. Pre-save album! Nov 22."

This upcoming album serves as a tribute to his late mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, who passed away in August 2023. The announcement follows the release of his new single, 'Piece of My Heart,' featuring American singer-songwriter Brent Faiyaz. This track is part of the 'Morayo' project.

Wizkid has emphasized that 'Morayo' is not an Afrobeats album and has urged fans of the genre to refrain from downloading it if they only appreciate Afrobeats. "Album name ‘Morayo’ best I ever made. I am not an Afrobeats artist. Don’t call me that," he stated. "If you like Afrobeats, please don’t download my album; I’m not Afro anything."

Born on July 16, 1990, in Surulere, Lagos, Wizkid was raised in a polygamous family with a Muslim father and a Christian mother. Earlier this year, he released the 'Soundman Vol. 2' EP, which features collaborations with prominent artists like Wande Coal and Zlatan Ibile.

Wizkid's discography includes notable albums such as 'Ayo' (2014), 'Sound From The Other Side' (2017), 'Made In Lagos' (2020), and 'More Love, Less Ego' (2022). He gained widespread recognition for his collaboration with Beyoncé on 'Brown Skin Girl,' which earned him a Grammy Award in 2021. Additionally, 'Made In Lagos' was recently recognized as the most streamed Nigerian album on Apple Music.

As fans eagerly await the release of 'Morayo,' Wizkid continues to solidify his status as one of the leading figures in the global music scene.
