Charles Ezbon Sentenced to Life for Haringey Shooting Identified Through CCTV

Charles Ezbon, a 33-year-old man from Tottenham, London, has been sentenced to life in prison for a shooting in Haringey. Detectives identified Ezbon through CCTV footage, leading to his arrest and conviction.

Ezbon, residing on Park Lane, pleaded guilty in March to possession of a loaded firearm and grievous bodily harm. On Friday, June 14, at Wood Green Crown Court, he received a life sentence with a minimum term of nine years.

Detective Constable Rhiain John, who led the investigation, described Ezbon as a dangerous offender with gang affiliations, which likely motivated the incident. John expressed satisfaction with the sentence, noting that it ensured Ezbon would spend significant time in prison.

The Metropolitan Police reported that on Sunday, December 24, 2023, officers responded to North Middlesex Hospital following reports of a man admitted with a gunshot wound to his leg. The 26-year-old victim's injuries were deemed non-life-threatening. Investigations revealed that the victim was shot outside a supermarket on Cedar Road, N17.

CCTV footage captured Ezbon shooting the man after an altercation around 05:00hrs, allowing officers to quickly identify him. A manhunt ensued, and Ezbon was apprehended on January 8 at a friend's home in Stanford Way, Streatham, SW16.

Despite the victim's reluctance to cooperate, police continued their investigation. A shell casing recovered at the scene linked Ezbon to the shooting, and the CCTV evidence left him no choice but to plead guilty. He was charged and remanded on January 9.
