American actor Ben Affleck has expressed his admiration for his estranged wife, Jennifer Lopez, praising her performance in the upcoming film Unstoppable, for which he serves as a producer. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight on Sunday, the 52-year-old actor-director described Lopez, 55, as "spectacular" in her portrayal of Judy Robles in the sports drama.
Affleck made these remarks during an interview alongside his friend and production partner Matt Damon, 54, and reigning Best Actor Oscar winner Cillian Murphy, 48. He noted that while Unstoppable differs significantly from other projects, it shares a common theme rooted in the passion of talented artists. "Goldenberg, Jennifer, Don Cheadle, Jharrel, and Bobby Cannavale were all really passionate about this film," he stated.
He further emphasized that Unstoppable exemplifies the kind of work he and Damon are proud of and reflects their belief in collaborating with the right people in the industry.
Lopez, in a recent interview with Nikki Glaser for Interview magazine, spoke candidly about navigating her life changes with newfound wisdom. "I've been trying to say I'm good enough, until now, when I know," she shared. Lopez reflected on her journey, expressing gratitude for her accomplishments and acknowledging the challenges she's faced. "We've been through a lot of things that nobody knows about, and you've persevered and refuse to give up," she noted.
She highlighted the importance of self-acceptance and resilience, stating, "I refuse to not give myself everything that little girl deserves."
Affleck also reflected on the joy of collaborating with Lopez, saying, "What fun, what a joy to do something with her, see her be great." He acknowledged that a positive work environment is crucial for mental well-being.
Lopez filed for divorce on August 20, 2024, following months of speculation about their relationship. The filing coincided with the two-year anniversary of their wedding, which took place at Affleck's estate in Georgia in 2022. The couple made headlines in 2021 when they rekindled their romance nearly 17 years after ending their original engagement and postponing their September 2003 wedding.
