During the Sacramento Kings' visit to Toronto on November 2, rapper Drake made his feelings about former Toronto Raptors star DeMar DeRozan abundantly clear. The tension between the two seemed to arise after DeRozan appeared in Kendrick Lamar's recent music video for "Not Like Us," which some fans interpret as subtly criticizing Drake.
The night featured a jersey retirement ceremony honoring Vince Carter. When asked on TSN if DeRozan’s jersey should one day be retired, Drake’s response was blunt: “If you ever put up a DeRozan banner, I’ll go up there and pull it down myself.”
Drake’s apparent disdain continued throughout the game, with reports claiming he fixed DeRozan with intense stares and even mouthed an expletive in his direction. After the game, DeRozan was informed of Drake's comment about the banner. Unfazed, DeRozan quipped, “He gon' have a long way to climb to take it down. Tell him good luck.”
The source of Drake’s frustration appears tied to DeRozan’s cameo in Lamar’s "Not Like Us" video, where Lamar references DeRozan, rapping, “I'm glad DeRoz' came home, y'all didn't deserve him neither.” DeRozan has stayed diplomatic, expressing that he still respects Drake despite any underlying friction.
Whether this feud will continue or cool down remains uncertain, but for now, it’s evident that Drake isn’t willing to let bygones be bygones.
