Flamingos Clinch Fair Play Award at 2024 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup

Nigeria’s U-17 Women's team, the Flamingos, proudly brought home the Fair Play Award from the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in the Dominican Republic. Despite their journey ending in the quarter-finals after a 2-0 loss to the USA, the Flamingos were celebrated for their outstanding discipline and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.

In addition to the Fair Play Award, Nigeria’s Shakirat Moshood was recognized for her scoring prowess, tying with Spain’s Celia Segura for the Bronze Boot with four goals each. Segura narrowly edged out Moshood due to a higher assist count, with two assists to Moshood’s one.

The tournament’s top individual honor, the Adidas Golden Ball, went to Korea DPR’s Jon Il-chong, who was recognized as the best player. Spanish forward Pau Comendador took the Adidas Silver Ball, while Segura added to her accolades with the Bronze Ball.

The Flamingos' achievements at this year’s World Cup not only highlight their talent but also set an example of integrity and respect on the world stage.
