Turkish football club Galatasaray is reportedly preparing to make a £42 million bid to secure Victor Osimhen’s permanent transfer from Napoli during the upcoming January transfer window. Osimhen joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan in September after being linked with a departure from the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Since his arrival at Galatasaray, the 25-year-old striker has made an impressive impact, scoring four goals in four starts and providing two assists. This performance has intensified the interest of Galatasaray’s management, particularly head coach Okan Buruk, who is keen to finalize a permanent deal for Osimhen. However, financial constraints pose a significant challenge.
Napoli is reported to have set a £63 million release clause for Osimhen, applicable only to clubs outside Italy’s Serie A. Despite Galatasaray’s current inability to meet that figure, Turkish outlet Sozcu indicates that the club intends to proceed with their bid once the transfer window opens.
To bolster their offer, Galatasaray is reportedly seeking assistance from a sponsor, allowing them to present a club-record bid of £42 million. This amount would significantly surpass the £15 million they spent on Brazilian midfielder Gabriel Sara from Norwich earlier this summer.
Osimhen’s potential transfer comes just a month after he confidently stated his market value, claiming, "I am worth over 100 million euros." He expressed belief in his unique qualities and contributions to the game, noting that opinions on his worth vary widely.
If Galatasaray successfully completes this deal, it would mark a significant milestone for the club, reflecting their ambition to strengthen their squad while navigating the competitive landscape of European football.
