A tragic shooting during Halloween celebrations in downtown Orlando, Florida, has resulted in at least two fatalities and six injuries. The Orlando Police Department reported that they received multiple calls about the incident around 1 a.m. on Friday, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement.
During an early morning press conference, authorities confirmed that two individuals lost their lives in the shooting, while six others sustained injuries. The victims, whose ages range from 19 to 39, were promptly transported to local hospitals for treatment.
A 17-year-old suspect has been taken into custody following the incident. Police stated that this individual has a prior arrest record, including a 2023 charge for grand theft.
At the time of the shooting, approximately 100 officers were deployed in the downtown area. However, police noted that the suspect managed to pass several officers while armed with a handgun and moved deliberately through the crowd before opening fire.
