On November 6, the Israeli army issued an urgent evacuation alert to residents of two neighborhoods in southern Beirut, Lebanon, warning of imminent strikes on Hezbollah-linked facilities. The notice, communicated by Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee via X (formerly Twitter), advised civilians near Hezbollah sites to vacate the area immediately.
"You are located near facilities and interests affiliated with Hezbollah, against which the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will act in the near future," Adraee stated in his message, which included a map highlighting the targeted zones.
This warning came just as Hezbollah’s new leader, Naim Qassem, gave a speech affirming the group’s readiness to confront Israel. Marking 40 days since the death of his predecessor, Qassem proclaimed Hezbollah’s strength, stating, “We have tens of thousands of trained resistance combatants,” and warned that no part of Israel would be “off-limits” to their forces.
The Israeli warning and Hezbollah’s statements signal a significant escalation in the region, as Israel braces for potential conflict with Hezbollah, a well-armed group known for its longstanding opposition to Israeli influence in Lebanon and the broader Middle East.
