The Israeli military announced on Sunday that its elite forces captured a senior Hezbollah operative in a targeted raid in northern Lebanon. The operation, conducted by members of Israel’s Shayetet 13 naval commando unit, is reportedly in response to an incident last month, where Hezbollah claimed responsibility for targeting an Israeli naval base on the Mediterranean coast.
According to sources cited by CNN, the Shayetet 13 team landed in northern Lebanon and detained the Hezbollah operative, who is currently undergoing interrogation by Israel Defense Forces (IDF) intelligence.
Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) reported on Saturday that eyewitnesses saw unidentified military personnel carrying out a landing operation at dawn on Batroun beach. This incident highlights the ongoing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah as both sides continue to engage in periodic hostilities in the region.
