Superstar footballer Lionel Messi, aged 37, has definitively stated that he has no intention of pursuing a coaching career after his retirement from professional football. In a candid interview with Fabrizio Romano for the popular football platform '433,' Messi discussed his thoughts on life beyond the pitch.
"I wouldn't like to be a coach," Messi asserted, although he admitted uncertainty about his future plans. He emphasized a newfound appreciation for the present, saying, "I value much more than before everything I do on a day-to-day basis, so I just think about playing, training, and having fun."
Messi also addressed the topic of potentially representing Argentina at the 2026 World Cup, keeping the door open but not committing to a decision just yet. "The truth is, I don't know. I've been asked several times, especially in Argentina," he explained. His immediate focus remains on finishing the current season strong and participating in a full pre-season, which he missed last year due to extensive travel.
Reflecting on his time with Inter Miami, Messi acknowledged the team's progress but recognized areas for improvement. He expressed satisfaction with winning the regular season but noted, "We had many very silly mistakes during the year that we can avoid, and in these playoffs, they can cost us elimination."
Looking ahead, Messi remains optimistic about Inter Miami's ambitions, stating, "The club does not set limits; that is the philosophy." He believes the team's potential for greatness within Major League Soccer (MLS) and beyond is boundless, emphasizing the importance of continued growth and development.
