In a recent report by Cable.co.uk and We Are Social, shared by World of Statistics on X, Nigerians have been ranked fifth among the world’s top social media users for 2024. The data reveals that Nigerians spend an average of 3 hours and 23 minutes per day on social media platforms.
Leading the global rankings is Kenya, where users dedicate an average of 3 hours and 43 minutes daily to social media. South Africa follows closely with 3 hours and 37 minutes, while Brazil and the Philippines also rank high at 3 hours and 34 minutes and 3 hours and 33 minutes, respectively.
Nigeria's average of 3 hours and 23 minutes places it just behind these top four countries, indicating a significant engagement with social media among Nigerians. Other countries with notable social media usage include Colombia (3:22), Chile (3:11), and Indonesia (3:11). Saudi Arabia and Argentina round out the top ten, with averages of 3 hours and 10 minutes and 3 hours and 8 minutes, respectively.
In contrast, some countries exhibit lower levels of social media engagement. Ghana records an average of 2 hours and 43 minutes, Egypt at 2 hours and 41 minutes, and Thailand at 2 hours and 30 minutes.
