Pastor Adeboye Raises Alarm Over Arrest of RCCG Pastor Abroad, Decries Moral Decline

Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has voiced his concern about the arrest of one of the church’s pastors abroad for addressing an audience as "ladies and gentlemen."

Speaking during the monthly Thanksgiving service at the RCCG Throne of Grace in Lagos on Sunday, December 1, Adeboye explained that the statement was deemed discriminatory in the country where the pastor was serving. Authorities reportedly took issue with the phrase, arguing that it excluded individuals who identify outside the binary genders.

“One of my pastors abroad was arrested for simply addressing a gathering as ‘ladies and gentlemen,’” Adeboye said. “Some people accused him of discrimination, asking, ‘What about those who are neither ladies nor gentlemen?’”

Adeboye linked the incident to a broader decline in moral values and warned that such occurrences are signs of the approaching end times. “The end is nearer than you think. Things are getting worse, and this is a wake-up call,” he said, urging Christians to hold firm to their faith.

He also recounted another troubling incident involving a woman who referred to her dog as her husband. “When asked about her spouse, she responded, ‘I took him to the vet before coming. He doesn’t talk,’” Adeboye shared, expressing his concern over the increasing deviation from traditional values.

The RCCG leader admonished believers to remain steadfast, urging them to reject worldly distractions and commit fully to their faith. “Those still playing church—singing, clapping, and enjoying things without genuine commitment—remember, Jesus is coming back,” he warned. “I want to see you in my Father’s house.”

This is not the first time Pastor Adeboye has spoken out on social issues. During the RCCG’s 72nd annual convention in August, he criticized certain fashion trends among church workers. These included braided hair for men, false eyelashes, and heavy makeup for women, which he stated would no longer be allowed on RCCG altars.

Adeboye’s comments continue to spark debate about the intersection of faith, culture, and societal changes in an increasingly diverse world.
