Disgraced music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs, currently facing federal sex trafficking charges, will remain in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, New York, through the holiday season. Despite three attempts by his legal team to secure bail, judges have repeatedly denied his release, citing concerns over witness tampering and community safety.
Combs, 55, was arrested on September 16 in Manhattan and has pleaded not guilty to allegations that he engaged in a long-running scheme of coercion and abuse involving multiple women. Prosecutors allege that he used blackmail, violence, and intimidation tactics, including kidnapping and arson, to silence his victims.
Most recently, U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian rejected a $50 million bail package proposed by Combs’ attorneys, stating in a detailed five-page ruling that the music mogul posed a "serious risk" to witnesses.
"There is compelling evidence of Combs's propensity for violence," Subramanian wrote, aligning with the conclusions of two previous judges.
Combs’ legal team had hoped to overturn the decision through a federal appeals court, but their request was also denied. The appeal process has been delayed while the current judge, newly assigned to the case, reviews the matter.
While awaiting his trial, scheduled for May, Combs will spend Christmas at MDC Brooklyn, where federal sources say a special holiday program is planned for inmates. The activities include card games, dominoes, and basketball and soccer competitions.
The Christmas menu at the facility will feature baked Cornish hen, macaroni and cheese, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, and a holiday dessert.
Combs, a father of seven, continues to maintain his innocence as his legal battle unfolds. His case has drawn significant public attention, marking a dramatic fall from grace for the influential figure in the hip-hop industry.
