"APC Chieftain Ayekooto Akindele Reveals Reasons Behind Amaechi's Bitter Relationship with Buhari"

A prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a strong supporter of President Bola Tinubu, Ayekooto Akindele, has suggested possible reasons why former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, may harbor resentment toward his former boss, Muhammadu Buhari.

In a post on his official Facebook page, Ayekooto speculated that Amaechi's bitterness could stem from Buhari's failure to endorse him during the APC presidential primaries in 2022. Despite Amaechi’s significant contributions to infrastructure projects in Buhari's hometown of Daura, the former president did not support him in the party's leadership contest.

Ayekooto stated, “Two reasons he will never forgive Buhari: despite receiving a chieftaincy title in Daura and establishing a transportation university there, Buhari did not impose him on the APC. This is unforgivable.”

Furthermore, Ayekooto remarked that Amaechi, after resigning to run for the APC ticket and losing, had requested to be reappointed as a minister. However, according to Ayekooto, Buhari appeared indifferent, seemingly unable to comprehend Amaechi's plea.

These comments came after Amaechi made remarks about former President Olusegun Obasanjo, stating that Obasanjo was the last Nigerian leader to successfully foster a middle class in the country. He credited Obasanjo with creating an economy that generated jobs, which, in turn, contributed to the rise of a middle class in Nigeria.
