Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has openly admitted to striking a so-called "peace pact" with terrorists in the state, a move that has been widely criticized as an act of appeasement to those who have wreaked havoc on innocent citizens. While he attempts to justify this disgraceful decision under the guise of preserving lives and ensuring peace, the reality is that this is yet another example of the Northern establishment’s dangerous romance with terrorism.
The Northern elite, over the years, have continued to provide a haven for these criminal elements, shielding them under the pretext of dialogue and reconciliation. This latest action by Governor Sani further exposes the undeniable truth: the North has accepted these terrorists as part of their system, rather than confronting them head-on. Instead of taking decisive military action, as was done against IPOB in the East, the Kaduna State government is now embracing negotiations with terrorists, reinforcing suspicions of a larger agenda at play.
It is no secret that there has been a consistent push for the Islamization of Nigeria, with terrorist groups terrorizing predominantly Christian communities while Northern leaders turn a blind eye. The fact that Kaduna State has chosen to "dialogue" with known killers instead of eradicating them shows the level of complicity within the system. The lives lost to these terrorists are being disregarded in favor of political convenience, proving that the government values power and control over the safety of its citizens.
Meanwhile, in the South-East, Igbo governors have continued to attack IPOB, an organization that has taken it upon itself to defend the region against the same terror that the Northern elite seem all too willing to accommodate. These Igbo leaders, instead of standing firm against the Northern-led campaign of suppression, have chosen to align themselves with the government in Abuja, branding IPOB as criminals while ignoring the real terrorists ravaging the North.
The irony is striking: while the North negotiates with terrorists, the South-East faces military operations against those resisting the growing insecurity in their land. This deliberate double standard exposes the deep-rooted hypocrisy in the system and the unfortunate reality that Igbo leaders have chosen to betray their people in favor of political relevance.
Additionally, many Igbos, in their blind loyalty to the "One Nigeria" project, continue to undermine IPOB’s efforts in pushing back against the Islamization agenda. They fail to see that their so-called unity with the rest of the country is being exploited, leaving the South-East vulnerable to the same fate that has befallen parts of the Middle Belt and Southern Kaduna.
The Kaduna State government’s reckless pact with terrorists is a clear indication that terrorism is being accommodated in the North while being brutally suppressed in the South. If this trend continues, Nigeria is headed for an even darker future where criminals are rewarded, and those fighting for justice are persecuted. It is time for Nigerians, especially the South-East, to wake up to this reality before it is too late.
