**Yoruba Monarch Accused of Using Marriage Scheme to Defraud UK-Based Nigerian Woman**

A UK-based Nigerian woman, Christy Oluwabunmi, has accused Oba Adekeye Adeyemi Olanrewaju, the Abepa of Joga Orile in Yewa North, Ogun State, of using marriage as a scheme to defraud her. She claims that the monarch took advantage of her trust, leading to financial and material losses totaling millions of naira.

Oluwabunmi explained that the traditional ruler deceived her into believing he wanted to marry her and assist with her business. She was manipulated into transferring over N53 million through electronic transactions, N12 million in cash, mobile phones valued at N10.8 million, and gold worth N120 million. She also claims that Adeyemi forged a divorce certificate for her and arranged for a court proceeding to formalize their marriage, only for her to later discover that he had used the same deceptive tactics on other women.

In a series of petitions addressed to the Osun and Ondo State Governors, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Inspector General of Police, the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Chairman of the Ogun Council of Obas, Oluwabunmi recounted her experience. She claimed that after taking her money and possessions, Adeyemi attempted to involve her in a ritual in Ekiti State, where she was told she needed to sacrifice an eye or a leg in exchange for financial prosperity. When she refused, she found herself financially ruined and abandoned.

According to Oluwabunmi, Adeyemi used similar methods to defraud at least three other women, all of whom were threatened with death if they reported the incidents. She alleged that after she demanded the return of her money and valuables, the monarch threatened her life, claiming that nothing would happen because of his powerful position.

Oluwabunmi further stated that she was manipulated into handing over her wealth under false pretenses, with promises to help her improve her business and financial status. Despite her efforts to retrieve her possessions, she claimed that Adeyemi continued to exploit her and intimidate her with threats of violence.

As of the time of reporting, Oba Adekeye Adeyemi had not responded to the accusations. He has not answered multiple phone calls nor replied to any follow-up messages.
