Shannon Sharpe, Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson Settle $20M Defamation Lawsuit Filed by Usher Fan

Shannon Sharpe and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson have settled a $20 million defamation lawsuit brought by Jimalita Tillman, a woman seen in a viral video of Usher feeding her cherries at a concert. Tillman claimed the former NFL stars falsely stated on their Nightcap podcast that her husband was filing for divorce, despite her never being married. She alleged attempts to contact them went unanswered.

The case, filed in April against Sharpe, Johnson, and Shay Shay Media, was dismissed with prejudice in federal court, meaning it cannot be refiled. Tillman expressed satisfaction with the outcome and praised Sharpe’s community contributions.

This settlement comes weeks after Sharpe resolved a separate lawsuit alleging sexual assault. ESPN has since cut ties with the Hall of Famer, despite earlier plans for him to return for the 2025 NFL season. Sharpe said he’s at peace with the decision but wished the timing hadn’t overshadowed his brother Sterling’s Hall of Fame induction.
