Alabama Man Pleads Guilty in Chilling Murder-for-Hire Plot Against His Family

An Alabama plumber has admitted to plotting one of the most disturbing family crimes in recent memory — a plan to have his wife and six adult children killed.

Federal prosecutors say Mohammad A.H. Mohammad, 64, pleaded guilty this week to seven counts of murder for hire after attempting to pay what he thought was a hitman — in reality, an undercover federal agent — to carry out the killings.

Court records reveal a chilling descent into violence and obsession. Just months into his marriage in 2021, Mohammad’s wife sought a protection order, accusing him of brutal abuse, threats to lock his family in the basement, and even holding guns and knives to their children’s heads.

By September 2024, Mohammad’s anger had escalated to murder-for-hire. In a Jefferson County meeting with the undercover agent, he openly discussed prices: $20,000 for his wife’s life, $5,000 for each of his children. He referred to his children — ages 21 to 34 — as “trash” and “cockroaches,” according to prosecutors, but insisted his wife was the “big head,” worth more.

“Your money maximum within two weeks,” he told the agent. “Not five [thousand dollars]. Twenty. Because it’s the big head. The others, it’s OK. They are trash. Cockroaches. You know. But this one, deserve more.”

Mohammad’s arrest followed swiftly. But prosecutors say even behind bars, he continued to try to manipulate the case, attempting to contact witnesses despite the court’s protection order.

This isn’t the first time he has been in trouble with the law. In 2022, he was arrested for felony first-degree stalking after planting GPS devices on his family’s cars. A year later, a car belonging to his wife’s close friend was set on fire, followed by another arson attack on a truck driven by one of his children.

Mohammad now faces a maximum of 10 years for each of the seven counts — a potential 70-year sentence — when he appears in court on December 10 for sentencing.
