ICE Agent Relieved of Duties After Video Shows Him Shoving Woman at NYC Courthouse

A disturbing video from a federal courthouse in New York City has led to an ICE agent being relieved of his duties while the Department of Homeland Security investigates the incident. The video shows the agent pushing a woman against a wall, causing her to fall as her young children watch in distress.

The incident occurred Thursday, shortly after the woman’s husband was detained by masked ICE agents. In the clip, the woman can be heard pleading, “You don’t care about anything,” while the agent repeatedly says “Adios” before shoving her. Another agent appears to grab her by the hair. The woman was later taken to the hospital.

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin condemned the agent’s actions, saying, “The officer’s conduct in this video is unacceptable and beneath the men and women of ICE. Our ICE law enforcement are held to the highest professional standards and this officer is being relieved of current duties as we conduct a full investigation.”

NYC Comptroller Brad Lander, who was present at the federal building, described the earlier detention of the husband, noting that the agents did not identify themselves, present a warrant, or provide lawful grounds for his arrest.

Rep. Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.) confirmed that the woman and her two children “fled to my office for safety” after the incident and called on DHS Secretary Kristi Noem to take disciplinary action. Goldman has also referred the ICE agent to Attorney General Pam Bondi for criminal investigation, emphasizing the need for accountability and deterrence.

A spokesperson for Mayor Eric Adams expressed concern about the broader implications, stating, “Our entire city is less safe when immigrants are afraid to use basic services and attend court hearings.”

The video has reignited debates over ICE enforcement practices and the use of force against civilians, raising urgent questions about accountability and the treatment of families caught up in immigration actions.
