As Sean “Diddy” Combs awaits sentencing on October 3, letters from inmates and friends are pouring in to paint a different picture of the music mogul behind bars. Court documents reviewed by Complex reveal that fellow inmates at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center submitted letters detailing the positive impact of Diddy’s “Free Game With Diddy” course.
Inmates wrote about how the program has given them purpose, inspired small changes that add up to big transformations, and taught them to set realistic weekly goals. Arturo Santiago said, “Because of this class I have a purpose, something to look forward to every day,” while Wellington Eustate shared that Diddy’s guidance reminded him, “It’s never too late to start nor is it ever too late to achieve your dreams.”
The filing also highlighted Diddy’s generosity and kindness behind bars, noting that he helps fellow inmates with commissary and offers support to those around him.
Outside the prison walls, celebrity ally Yung Miami submitted a character letter to U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian, emphasizing the softer side of the Bad Boy Records founder. Miami described Diddy as “loving, genuine, supportive, and always encouraging,” noting how he helped her grow personally and professionally during their four-year acquaintance.
Diddy, 55, was acquitted of sex trafficking charges in July but found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. As his sentencing approaches, these letters may play a role in shaping the court’s view of the man behind the headlines.
