Newly released documents from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate show scheduling notes that include Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Peter Thiel, and Steve Bannon, though it’s unclear whether any of the meetings actually took place. The documents, made public by House Oversight Committee Democrats, are part of a broader subpoena of Epstein’s estate.
The notes include entries for routine activities like haircuts, teeth cleanings, and movie screenings, as well as meetings with some of the most powerful people in business and politics. Importantly, the documents do not allege any wrongdoing and most dates listed occur after Epstein’s 2008 guilty plea in Florida for soliciting a minor.
Highlights from the released notes:
-
Elon Musk: A note from December 6, 2014, mentions a potential visit by Musk to Epstein’s island. Musk has said he declined multiple invitations to the island but visited Epstein’s Manhattan mansion with his then-wife.
-
Bill Gates: A tentative breakfast meeting with Gates is noted for December 5, 2014. Gates has acknowledged past meetings with Epstein as a “mistake in judgment.”
-
Peter Thiel: A November 27, 2017, lunch meeting with Thiel is listed; Thiel previously described Epstein as “a crazed networker” with little substance.
-
Steve Bannon: Scheduled for a 7 a.m. breakfast in February 2019, months before Epstein’s arrest. Bannon reportedly helped Epstein attempt to rehabilitate his public image following media reports on his prior plea deal.
The documents also reflect ongoing scrutiny over Epstein’s network and his connections to prominent figures, but do not suggest illegal activity by anyone mentioned. Republicans on the committee have criticized Democrats for selective publication, promising to release all documents soon.
While these notes provide a glimpse into Epstein’s social calendar and connections, experts caution that scheduling entries alone cannot be interpreted as evidence of misconduct.
