A Raising Cane’s in Fort Collins, Colorado, confirmed Friday that it has fired employees who openly cursed and mocked supporters of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.
The incident occurred on September 18, when a small group of conservatives, wearing MAGA hats and American flag shirts, entered the restaurant after attending a vigil for Kirk. According to reports from the Larimer County Republican Party, employees shouted phrases like, “f** Charlie Kirk,” “execute,”* and “Free Palestine.”
Raising Cane’s told The Federalist that it investigated the incident thoroughly, took appropriate action, and resolved the matter to the satisfaction of the customers who made complaints. When asked specifically about the employees, the company confirmed, “Yes, we took immediate action and the individuals involved are no longer employed by Raising Cane’s.”
This is part of a broader pattern of employers taking swift action against public displays of hostility toward Kirk. Just in recent weeks:
-
The Washington Post fired columnist Karen Attiah for falsely quoting Kirk on BlueSky, a left-wing social media platform, though she has since acknowledged the misquote and filed a grievance against the paper.
-
Middle Tennessee State University terminated assistant dean Laura Sosh-Lightsy for stating on Facebook she had “zero sympathy” for Kirk.
-
Clemson University fired one faculty member and suspended two others for mocking Kirk’s death.
-
MSNBC let go of political analyst Matthew Dowd for claiming Kirk “brought his own assassination onto himself.”
-
Disney temporarily suspended Jimmy Kimmel Live! over false accusations connecting the alleged assassin to “MAGA.”
The Raising Cane’s incident underscores how quickly employers are moving to discipline staff for public expressions of political hostility, especially in the wake of highly charged events like the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
