Rudy Giuliani Quietly Settles Dominion’s $1.3 Billion Lawsuit After Spreading Trump’s Big Lie

Donald Trump’s loyal bulldog, Rudy Giuliani, has once again been forced to eat his words — this time by quietly settling the $1.3 billion defamation lawsuit Dominion Voting Systems filed against him for peddling Trump’s baseless lies about the 2020 election.

Court filings show Dominion and Giuliani agreed to dismiss the case “with prejudice,” meaning it’s over for good and can’t be refiled. Both sides will cover their own legal fees. What’s missing from the filing? Any mention of how much Giuliani actually paid — a detail that’s being kept under wraps.

Dominion sued the former New York City mayor in 2021, accusing him of spreading wild, false claims that the company rigged voting machines to steal the White House for Joe Biden. Giuliani never stopped flogging those lies, even when Trump’s own campaign legal filings didn’t back them up.

This is just the latest financial disaster for Giuliani. Earlier this month, a New York judge ordered him to cough up $1.36 million plus interest to a former law firm that represented him. In January, he reached another settlement after being ordered to pay $148 million to two Georgia election workers he smeared. And let’s not forget Dominion already wrung $787 million out of Fox News in 2023 for broadcasting the very same falsehoods Giuliani helped launch.

Giuliani may be settling, but the damage he caused lingers. His lies helped fuel an attack on American democracy, leaving the public with the bill — and a nation still scarred by Trump’s Big Lie.
