Authorities say Lance Twiggs, 22, the partner of Tyler Robinson, has maintained a low profile in the weeks following the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025. Robinson, 22, has been charged with aggravated murder and other related offenses and is currently held in a Salt Lake City jail pending trial.
Court filings indicate that Robinson sent a series of text messages to Twiggs confessing to the shooting during a 33-hour manhunt. Twiggs subsequently shared those messages with law enforcement and has been described by officials as cooperating with investigators. He has not been charged with a crime.
Robinson appeared briefly in court on Monday, where he requested to wear civilian clothing at future hearings, citing concerns that a jail uniform could prejudice potential jurors. The judge granted that request but denied Robinson’s appeal to appear without shackles. Robinson’s next court appearance is scheduled for January 16, with arraignment set for January 30.
Twiggs and Robinson reportedly began living together after Twiggs was removed from his family home in 2018. While some family accounts describe past conflicts, others who knew Twiggs in his youth characterized him as a hardworking and responsible individual. Venmo records indicate Twiggs received occasional support from his parents in recent years.
Neighbors have noted little activity at the couple’s former residence since Robinson’s arrest. It remains unclear whether Twiggs is residing with his family or elsewhere.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the killing. Further updates are expected as the court process moves forward.
