Florida Teen Charged as Adult in Shooting of Classmate Over Hallway Dispute

Orlando, FL A 15-year-old boy is facing adult charges after allegedly shooting and killing a classmate in what authorities describe as a dispute over a minor hallway altercation.

The incident occurred on October 9 at Vogt-Meloon Park in Orlando, where deputies responding to the scene found 16-year-old Pinien Dalmacy with a gunshot wound to the top left side of his head. First responders transported Dalmacy to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Law enforcement identified the suspect as Jacori Antonio Redding, who, according to deputies, became angry when Dalmacy bumped him at Oak Ridge High School and refused to apologize. The dispute escalated, leading Redding to allegedly challenge Dalmacy to a fight at the nearby park, while reportedly flashing gang signs.

During the altercation at the park, Redding allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot Dalmacy. Surveillance video confirmed witness accounts of the shooting, authorities said.

Afterward, Redding reportedly returned to the school carrying the gun in his backpack. He was arrested on charges including manslaughter, possession of a firearm on school property, and possession of a firearm by a minor.

Court documents reveal a troubling history of behavioral issues. Redding had nearly 40 disciplinary incidents at school, approximately half related to fighting. Authorities also cited a text message from Redding two months before the shooting, in which he allegedly expressed a desire to shoot someone during a fistfight. Additionally, Redding was previously arrested and out on bond for grand theft of a motor vehicle.

He remains in the Orange County Jail without bond, and his next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.

The case underscores growing concerns about youth access to firearms and school safety, as authorities continue to investigate how a minor conflict escalated into a fatal shooting.
