Former Fox 2 News Anchor Charged with Murder After Allegedly Stabbing 80-Year-Old Mother to Death in Kansas

A former television news anchor has been charged with first-degree murder after allegedly stabbing her 80-year-old mother to death inside their Wichita, Kansas home.

Police say Angelynn “Angie” Mock, 47 — who previously worked as a reporter and anchor for Fox 2 News in St. Louis — was arrested on October 31 after authorities discovered her mother, Anita Avers, fatally wounded in her bed.

According to a statement from the Sedgwick County Police Department (SCPD), officers responded to a call about a “reported cutting” at around 7:52 a.m. Upon arrival, they found Mock standing outside the home. When officers entered the residence, they discovered Avers unresponsive with multiple stab wounds.

Avers was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Mock was also treated for undisclosed injuries before being booked into the Sedgwick County Jail, where she remains held on a $1 million bond. She was formally charged with first-degree murder later that day.

Authorities have not released a possible motive for the killing, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Police say details regarding Mock’s initial court appearance have not yet been made public.

Mock’s professional background includes several years as a broadcast journalist. According to her LinkedIn profile, she worked at Fox 2 St. Louis (KTVI) from 2011 to 2015 before leaving journalism to pursue a career in sales and data management software.

The Sedgwick County Police Department has declined to release further information, citing the active nature of the investigation.
