Marjorie Taylor Greene Says She No Longer Believes in QAnon

During her appearance on “The View” on Tuesday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) stated that she no longer subscribes to the QAnon conspiracy theory, which she has previously supported and promoted.

When asked by co-host Sunny Hostin if she still believes in QAnon, Greene waved her hand and replied, “Oh I went over that a long time ago.”

Hostin followed up, asking if that meant she had changed. Greene responded, “Well no, I haven’t changed. I was a victim, just like you were, of media lies and stuff you read on social media. You all have attacked me many times on this show because of things you’ve read about me that weren’t true, or clips you’ve seen.”

Addressing the QAnon-related “Jewish space lasers” theory, Greene said, “Not even true. Yeah, that’s been rebuffed.” She had previously posted on Facebook about the claim, which falsely suggested that California wildfires were caused by lasers linked to the Rothschild family, but the post has since been deleted. Greene previously apologized for promoting the conspiracy theory at a 2021 Republican conference, receiving a standing ovation, and also recanted related claims that school shootings were staged.

Greene also commented on her relationship with former President Donald Trump, noting that while he “usually yells at everybody,” he remains “the president of the United States.” Although she has referred to Trump as her “favorite president,” Greene has recently broken with the Republican Party on issues such as the government shutdown and has criticized GOP detractors, calling them “pathetic Republican men” and “mostly paid social media influencers.”

Regarding claims that her politics have shifted, Greene insisted, “Everybody’s like, ‘Marjorie Taylor Greene has changed.’ And I’m like, oh no, nothing has changed about me. I am staying absolutely, 100 percent true to the people that voted for me, and true to my district.”
