Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has been released on bail from detention after fulfilling the required bail conditions, according to his lawyers. The legal representatives, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika (SAN) and Kunle Adegoke (SAN), issued a statement stating that administrative approval was the only remaining step for Seun's release, as ordered by the Chief Magistrate.
Earlier reports had indicated that the Chief Magistrate of the Yaba Court, where Seun was arraigned, was absent from court on the scheduled day. However, Seun's lawyers clarified that the release process was not dependent on a physical court sitting.

The Chief Magistrates Court in Yaba had adjourned Seun's trial to the following day due to the magistrate's absence. Nonetheless, a reliable source later confirmed that Seun Kuti had indeed been granted bail.
"The family reached out to the Chief Magistrate, and she attended to them and finalized his release on bail," the source revealed.
Seun's legal team had previously stated that the purpose of Tuesday's sitting was to receive advice from the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). They highlighted that the court had ordered the case to be prosecuted by the DPP's office instead of the Police, necessitating the transfer of the case file for evaluation and decision on prosecution.
While the DPP's advice was not yet available, Seun's release on bail, as mandated by the Magistrate, was awaiting administrative approval. The legal team remained optimistic that Seun would be released on the granted bail terms.
Despite the challenges faced during the legal proceedings, Seun Kuti's supporters await his release as he faces charges of assaulting a police officer on Lagos State's Third Mainland Bridge, an incident that occurred on May 13.
