Anthony Joshua Issues Warning to Daniel Dubois Ahead of Potential Wembley Showdown

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has issued a stern warning to his potential next opponent, Daniel Dubois, as the two fighters are in discussions for a major bout at Wembley Stadium.

Daniel Dubois recently captured the interim IBF heavyweight title with an impressive eighth-round TKO victory over the previously unbeaten Filip Hrgovic in Saudi Arabia. This victory has set the stage for a highly anticipated domestic clash with Joshua, tentatively scheduled for September 20 or 21 at Wembley.

Joshua, 34, was present ringside for Dubois’ significant win and has warned the younger fighter that his aspirations for a world title will face another major obstacle when they meet in the ring. Sharing a photo on Instagram of himself watching Dubois' fight, Joshua commented, “The hardest part about my job is realizing you have to ruin someone else’s dream to achieve yours.”

Dubois, 26, is determined to rebound from his previous setback against undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk last August, where he lost his first shot at heavyweight gold. Eager for another chance at a world title, Dubois declared his intention to defeat Joshua decisively. “That’s what I’ve been hearing (that Joshua could be next), so let’s see. (Being world champion) is a dream. From challenging for the world title to getting the chance to win the damn thing outright, that’s what I want. I’ll demolish Joshua. I’ll get even better from here,” Dubois stated.

Joshua, who has recently regained his form with four consecutive wins, including a recent second-round KO of former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, remains focused on the challenge ahead. Despite his confidence, he acknowledges the threat posed by Dubois, who has rebounded from his loss to Usyk with successive stoppage victories over Jarrell Miller and Hrgovic.

“I’ve got to pick them off one by one,” Joshua said. “It’s not going to be easy, but that’s my mentality. So come one, come all… He (Dubois) has been in tougher fights, so he becomes hardened. He has worked his way up the ladder; we’ll see what happens in the near future. Wembley, O2, York Hall – wherever they put me, I’m happy to fight. Any venue, I’ll turn up and do my job.”

The potential Joshua vs. Dubois clash promises to be an exciting encounter, with both fighters eager to solidify their positions in the heavyweight division and move closer to their world title dreams.
