Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, recently visited former President Muhammadu Buhari. This visit took place at Buhari's residence in Daura, Katsina State, on Saturday.
The entourage accompanying Atiku included former Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, as seen in a video of the visit.
This meeting followed closely after Atiku's visits to former military heads of state, Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar, at their residences in Minna, Niger State.
Announcing these earlier visits on social media, Atiku stated, "Today, I paid Sallah homage to former Heads of State Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (rtd) and Gen. Abdusalami at their residences in Minna, Niger State."
These visits have sparked speculation that Atiku might be laying the groundwork for a potential bid in the 2027 presidential election.
In May, Atiku had declared his intention to continue contesting for the presidency as long as he remains healthy. This statement came amidst efforts to form a coalition with Labour Party's Peter Obi and other political parties.
