Convicted Rapist Receives Life Sentence in Ekiti State High Court

A High Court in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has handed down a life sentence to Ayegbusi Ojo for the sexual assault of a minor.

Justice J.O. Adeyeye, on Wednesday, found Ojo guilty of raping a 15-year-old girl in a lone count charge.

The incident occurred when the victim was returning from school, and Ojo, the convict, lured her into his room where he sexually assaulted her.

The girl, traumatized and unable to disclose the assault, collapsed at home, bleeding from her injuries, prompting her father to seek medical help.

Upon investigation, Ojo was arrested, charged, and brought before the court.

Ojo faced charges of rape under Section 31 (2) of the Child’s Rights Law, Cap C7 Laws of Ekiti State 2012.

During the trial, Ekiti State's Director of Public Prosecutions, Julius Ajibare, presented five witnesses and three exhibits supporting the case.

The judge, after thorough consideration, concluded that the prosecution had convincingly proven Ojo's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Consequently, Ojo was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for his heinous crime.
