Mass Defection and Development Pledges: Governor Alia's Address in Benue State

Thousands of party loyalists, predominantly from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alongside members of various political affiliations in Benue State, made a significant move by defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

This notable shift occurred in the local government areas of Sankera, Kwande, and Ushongo during the kickoff of Governor Hyacinth Alia’s statewide appreciation tour.

Addressing the gatherings at Katsina-Ala township stadium and LGEA primary school in Kwande town, Governor Alia expressed profound gratitude for the unwavering support bestowed upon him during the recent elections.

He reiterated his administration's commitment to facilitating the return of internally displaced persons (IDPs) affected by attacks from armed herdsmen to their ancestral lands, allowing them to resume agricultural activities.

Governor Alia voiced concern over the dire impact of armed bandit attacks on the Sankera region, a vital hub for yam production in the country.

Emphasizing that security is a collective responsibility, he urged all citizens to collaborate in the efforts to combat insecurity in the state.

Encouraging the formation of cooperative societies, the governor assured the populace of support through access to agricultural inputs and other benefits, fostering self-reliance and development.

Governor Alia debunked rumors suggesting substantial foreign borrowing for infrastructural projects, reaffirming his commitment to prudent financial management.

He announced the commencement of a road construction project linking Sankera-Chito-Vaase Road to address the prevailing insecurity in the area.

Governor Alia disclosed his correspondence with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, securing approval for additional road projects in Sankera, including the Katsina-Ala Head Bridge-Hausa Quarters/Victory Bible Church Wukari Junction and the Zaki Biam Yam Market-Iwar Ior-Y-Junction roads.

Urging patience, he assured the people of the president's genuine intentions for the state's developmental progress.
