FAAN Establishes Task Force to Combat Touting and Extortion at Airports

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has created a special task force to combat touting and extortion at the nation’s airports. Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, FAAN’s Managing Director, announced that Mr. Henry Agbebire, Director of Special Duties, will lead the task force.

During a press conference in Lagos, Kuku expressed serious concern over the ongoing harassment and extortion faced by passengers. She stated her commitment to personally engage with all government agencies operating at the airports to ensure strict adherence to anti-touting and anti-extortion regulations.

Kuku emphasized that the administration will no longer tolerate misconduct, warning that severe disciplinary actions will be taken against anyone involved in such practices. She also revealed plans to establish magistrate courts at international airports to expedite the prosecution of offenders. The task force's mission is to enforce discipline among airport staff and uphold a culture of professionalism.

Additionally, Kuku mentioned that dedicated phone lines and QR codes will be implemented to allow passengers to provide feedback on their airport experiences. She stressed that all airport personnel must display their on-duty cards and name tags prominently for easy identification and accountability. FAAN is committed to providing exceptional service and ensuring a safe and secure environment for all passengers and airport users.
