Fatal Accident on Third Mainland Bridge Claims One Life: LASTMA Reports

A fatal motor accident occurred on Saturday morning on Third Mainland Bridge, resulting in the death of one individual, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).

In a statement via its social media platform, LASTMA reported that the tragic incident took place around 6:30am near UNILAG waterfront on Third Mainland Bridge heading towards Iyana Oworonsoki. The authority confirmed the fatality but did not disclose the identity of the deceased.

The accident involved a Mini Truck with registration number MUS 489 XS and a Toyota Camry car bearing registration number KRD 470 JD.

LASTMA personnel promptly responded to the scene despite adverse weather conditions, including rain, to manage traffic and oversee the situation. They were joined by other emergency responders such as the Nigerian Police Force, SEHMU personnel, and a LASTMA tow truck, which worked to clear the vehicles from the scene and restore traffic flow on the bridge.

Following the recovery efforts, LASTMA later announced that the road had been cleared, urging motorists to prioritize safety and avoid over-speeding on Third Mainland Bridge.
