Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has increased the reward for information leading to the capture of the killers of five soldiers at Obikabia junction in Aba from N25 million to N30 million.
The announcement was made on Friday, June 7, during a visit from the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Hasan Abubakar, in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area. Governor Otti explained that the increase was due to a N5 million donation from a state indigene residing in the U.S.
"Interestingly, the government had already placed a N25 million bounty. Just yesterday, an Abia son from Obingwa, now living in the United States, sent us N5 million to upgrade the bounty to N30 million," Otti said. "I am happy to announce this increase to encourage anyone with useful information that will lead to the apprehension of the criminals."
Governor Otti also emphasized the state's collaboration with security agencies to prevent such incidents in the future. "We want to thank the intelligence service of the DSS for their assistance in this case," he added. "We are determined to find those responsible and send a clear message that Abia is no safe haven for terrorists, killers, kidnappers, and other criminals."
