Hisbah Board Seizes 142 Cartons of Alcohol in Katsina and Arraigns Two Women for Immoral Conduct

The Katsina State Hisbah Board has confiscated approximately 142 cartons of alcohol destined for Daura Local Government Area. Hisbah Commander Dr. Aminu Usman revealed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Katsina on Saturday.

Usman stated that the seizure occurred on Monday during a city-wide patrol aimed at "eradicating immoral behaviors and indiscipline." The operation led to the interception of a vehicle carrying the cartons of alcohol along the state’s ring road.

“This task was supervised by Malam Nafi’u Ma’azu-Akilu, who ensured the items were transported to the board’s headquarters for further investigation,” Usman said.

In a related incident, the board arraigned two women, Fatima Umar (Yargata) and Raliya Isah (Yar Ruma), both around 24 years old, on charges of loitering and immoral conduct. This marks the fourth time these women have faced such charges.

Usman explained that despite previous warnings and counseling, the women failed to reform their behavior, resulting in their arraignment before a Sharia Court. They pleaded guilty and were ordered to be remanded in a correctional facility until Thursday for further trial.

The Hisbah Commander urged parents, teachers, and community leaders to intensify efforts to instill discipline and good morals among the youth. He also appealed for continued support in maintaining good morals and restoring values within communities.
