A female prison officer is under police investigation after being filmed having sex with an inmate inside a cell at Wandsworth Prison, Britain's second-largest prison located in South London.
The video, over four minutes long, captures the officer engaging in explicit acts with a prisoner, with her discarded radio crackling with background messages.
According to The Sun UK, the footage was filmed by another inmate and circulated among the prisoners using contraband phones. During the video, the inmate recording the scene can be heard joking, “This is how we live at Wandsworth.”
The footage shows the officer on her knees, performing a sexual act on an inmate with his shorts pulled down. A second inmate, who appears to be smoking a joint, comments, “This is a movie, innit – gangsters online.”
The prison officer, appearing to be in her 20s and no longer working for the prison service, then lowers her trousers and engages in intercourse with the inmate against the cell door. Despite her radio emitting messages, she continues the act.
The officer reportedly resigned when the video emerged. The second inmate, holding what appears to be a cigarette, adds, “This is how we live at Wandsworth, bruv. Yeah,” and as the pair stand up, he continues, “No one’s coming through by the door, bro. I will fight them. No one’s coming - do your thing, bro. You know we are family.”
This incident comes after a recent report by HM Inspector of Prisons indicated that Wandsworth Prison, which houses over 1,500 inmates, requires “urgent improvement” due to a surge in violence. The prison's governor, Katie Price, resigned during the inspection, which highlighted "systemic and cultural failures stemming from poor leadership."
