Reports from SundayWorld suggest that Makhene attempted suicide by overdosing on tablets following Keswa's decision to leave, which came after confronting Makhene about allegations of infidelity with a Nigerian drug dealer and a female partner.
Allegations also surfaced of Makhene scalding Keswa with boiling water, attacking her with an ironing board and a vase, damaging furniture, and setting fire to their home in Randfontein. Keswa, in a message leaked to a friend, revealed Makhene's suicide attempt, which occurred after Keswa confronted her about the relationship issues.
The leaked message from Keswa detailed Makhene's overdose and subsequent referral to a psychiatric hospital. Keswa expressed her efforts to support Makhene, who initially agreed to seek help but later opted out, citing ancestral beliefs. Additionally, Keswa confided in the friend about feeling sick during intimacy with Makhene due to distress over the alleged affair with the drug dealer.
The friend further disclosed incidents where Makhene invoked ancestral beliefs to justify her violent behavior towards Keswa. Despite Keswa's attempts to reconcile, their relationship remained fraught with conflict.
