Aloy Ejimakor Condemns Nnamdi Kanu's Detention, Calls it False Imprisonment

Aloy Ejimakor, the chief legal representative for Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), asserts that Kanu is unjustly imprisoned by the Nigerian government solely for his beliefs.

Ejimakor expressed his discontent with the Nigerian government's actions on X, stating, "In human interactions, avoid seeking unnecessary attention and validation. Simply uphold what you believe is right. If met with a negative response, remain mature and do not take it personally. Stay composed, uphold your integrity and dignity, and most importantly, acknowledge your efforts."

"Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is a victim of wrongful imprisonment by the Nigerian government. This is undeniable," he added.

"It is intolerable to incarcerate someone not for actual crimes but for their thoughts and convictions that the state aims to suppress through unjust imprisonment."

"The most effective way to support such an individual is to persistently advocate for justice on his behalf. Let him know every day that he is not forgotten."

Kanu has been in custody since June 2021, following his arrest and extradition from Kenya to Nigeria. Despite court orders granting him bail, the Nigerian government has continued to detain him.

Kanu faces charges related to his advocacy for the independence of Biafra.
