Simon Ekpa, a prominent figure in the Biafra separatist movement, has called on American billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk to lend his support to the cause for Biafra's liberation. Ekpa’s appeal came on July 27, following a tweet by Musk urging Christians to stand firm in defending their faith.
In his response to Musk's tweet, which emphasized the need for Christians to act courageously to protect their religion, Ekpa framed the liberation of Biafra as a critical step to prevent the perceived decline of Christianity in Africa. He urged Musk to take concrete action to support the Biafra cause, suggesting that failing to do so might lead to the fears Musk expressed becoming a reality in Africa.
Ekpa's message underscored his belief that the struggles faced by Christians in Nigeria and across the continent are symptomatic of a broader crisis. He argued that the success of the Biafra movement would serve as a powerful example of bravery and resilience, potentially safeguarding Christianity’s presence in the region.
“The extinction of Christianity is happening in Nigeria and in Africa, and don’t think it is not your business,” Ekpa wrote on social media. “Biafra’s liberation will help prevent this crisis and will also see our support for Israel.”
Ekpa’s call for international support reflects ongoing tensions and aspirations within the Biafra movement, which continues to seek recognition and autonomy amid complex geopolitical and religious dynamics in Nigeria.
