Bill for Creation of Etiti State Advances in House of Representatives

The House of Representatives has passed the bill for the creation of Etiti State for a second reading. This bill proposes the formation of a new state from the existing five states in the South East region.

If established, the new state would encompass 11 current local government areas in the region.

Lawmaker Amobi Godwin Ogah emphasized the importance of creating the new state to ensure the South East region achieves parity with other zones in the country.

The bill, which suggests carving out Etiti State from Anambra, Abia, Imo, Enugu, and Ebonyi States, had earlier passed its first reading in the Green Chamber.

The proposal was presented by five members of the House of Representatives: Amobi Ogah, Miriam Onuoha, Kama Nkemkama, Chinwe Nnabuife, and Anayo Onwuegbu.
